Changes for the Autumn.

The summer break is here. We finished our term with a fine flourish – a great performance of the Mozart Mass in C minor, a thoroughly enjoyable barbecue and a very well attended AGM.

However, we are already looking forward to next term which will start on Monday 7th September, 7.45pm, Broomwood Church Hall, Kyrle Road SW11 when we will be rehearsing Monteverdi: Vespers for our concert on Saturday 28th November. Registration forms are already available on the website – http://www.festivalchorus.co.uk

The Vespers will be a wonderful piece to sing but it will also be challenging. To provide as much support as possible a number of measures are being put in place:

Rehearsals will start at 7.45pm and run for 2 hours. Please arrive before hand so that we can start at 7.45.

There will be 3 Saturday rehearsals – 10th October, 31st October and 14th November (as always these are extra – but are so useful that members are encouraged to take advantage of them)

Part rehearsals will also be available and in place by the beginning of the term .

We will have Choraline CDs to borrow, but anyone who wants can purchase their own direct – http://www.choraline.com. Another resource is Cyberbass – http://www.cyberbass.com – though this does not suit all systems. Recommended also is John Fletcher’s Music Files – http://www.johnfletchermusic.org.

An evening is being organised where members will be able to watch a recorded performance of the Vespers. Details of this will be sent out shortly, but for the diary the date will be Friday 11th September

As always we remain a non-auditioning choir and welcome those who want to sing with us. We just ask for a commitment and regular attendance at rehearsals. Please do read Andrea’s Vision statement for more details of changes planned ( here on the site ).

Looking forward to welcoming you on Monday 7th September at 7.30 to start at 7.45.
