Autumn Newsletter

Festival Chorus Newsletter
October 2015

Our new season has started vigorously as we rehearse the challenging, but inspirational, Vespers by Monteverdi. Indeed, the concert is already sold out. However, we are also already looking forward to next year, our 40th birthday. The culmination of the year will be our November 2016 concert, when we will perform a piece commissioned by the choir from Colin Matthews, one of the foremost British composers. We are planning events to support this ambitious move

Fundraising Dinner
On Saturday some of you heard more details of our fundraising Dinner in February ( 26th).For those who could not attend the rehearsal…
We will have 20 tables of Ten, at £50 per ticket. People are arranging with friends in the choir to make up tables, but of course we would like to see other friends attend as well. We would like to allocate a Table leader for each table and to make our lives easier we will be asking them to collect and pass on the cost of the tickets. You can pay in Cash, Cheque – made payable to The Festival Chorus, or by the usual BACs – referenced Dinner and your name.
The evening promises to be lots of fun. You will be greeted with a glass of fizz and some wine will be provided free, courtesy of a kind donor. Dinner is three courses, but before the desert you will be treated to a musical interlude. This will consist of two rounds of the quiz with a musical theme, run by Derek Carden and then our present musical director – Andrea, and our previous director – David will perform a duet! After desert we will have an Auction and present the prizes for the Quiz winners. The Quiz has 4 rounds of general knowledge as well. We will be giving details of the Auction prizes later but they are fantastic!!
The dinner is to be held in St Luke’s which will be gorgeously decorated by Libby Spurrier and her team of volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer to help pre, at or post the dinner please do come forward. Every penny we have to spend on staff is a penny less for our appeal.
Do contact us via thefestivalchorus2012@gmail.com

Felicity Ellacombe and Pippa McDonald are the organisers

We hope members past and present will join us in this.
