Festival Chorus Newsletter

January 2016

Happy New Year to everyone – members, friends and associates.

It has been a great start to the year and already there is a buzz around both the Brahms and the Beethoven. Indeed to further enhance this we are organising a special social evening with Dr Katy Hamilton, Junior Fellow at the Royal College of Music, who will talk about the Requiem. Please put the date – Friday 5th February 7.30pm in your diary. The venue will be Holy Trinity Church, Trinity Road (opposite Fire Station), SW17 7RH. Tickets will cost £6.00 to cover the wine and cheese. This really will be a bit of a treat with everyone welcome.

AND we are also looking forward to our fabulous fund-raising dinner; to whet your appetite here is a message from Felicity and Pippa

Dear All,

The committee has been delighted at the enthusiastic response to our fundraising event. Thank you to everyone who has applied for tickets and we are now sold out! We are especially pleased to see parts arranging tables and getting together.

I thought I would outline what you might expect on the night.

When you arrive at St Luke’s you will be greeted with a lovely glass of fizz, courtesy of a donor.

On sitting at you table you will find a bottle of white and red wine already waiting for you. However, you may like to celebrate the evening with some champagne as we have been lucky enough to get some champagne at a reduced price. More details of that later. You will also find the first two parts of the Quiz.

After the main course we will be having some entertainment – more on that later as well! Then Derek Carden will be running the two sections of the quiz which are musical.

With dessert you will have the opportunity to complete the last two sections of the quiz.

While we are totting up the scores the Auction will take place. If you are not attending the dinner you will have an opportunity to put in a bid for these items until the night of the 25th. People have been very generous and we have some great items to auction. A full list will be going out to you all soon, but it includes, music lessons from Elspeth and Andrea, racing with Antony Lewis Crosby, Cake baking, Chelsea tickets, Gardening Design, flats and cottages to rent and much more. Something for everyone so do take a look when the list is published.

It promises to be a lovely evening with the church all dressed up in candle light and looking gorgeous – thanks to Libby Spurrier.

We cannot wait to see you all.

Pippa and Felicity on behalf of the committee
